Apple Mail (macOS)

Synchronise your Pureweb mailbox with the Mail app on Apple computers.

In this guide, you will configure the Mail app preinstalled on Apple computers to synchronise with webmail using the IMAP protocol. Changes made on one device will be reflected across all of your configured devices. This guide only applies to Apple desktops and laptops. If you have recently been upgraded to our new email hosting, or if your mailbox has moved to us from another provider, please ensure you have removed the old account from your device before following these steps. Apple Mail does not support more than one mailbox to be configured for the same email address.

Show the steps to remove your old account

Removing the old account takes its messages off your Mac, but copies remain on the mail server and stay available through webmail.

Before removing an account: Make sure all expected email history and folders are visible in the new webmail. That data is stored on our servers and backed up by us. If you have configured your mailbox with the outdated POP protocol, or have moved email to a folder that is only stored on your computer, removing the account or folder could permanently those emails. We recommend performing regular backups of your locally stored data.

  1. Open the Mail app on your Mac
  2. Choose Mail > Settings (or Preferences on older versions), then click Accounts
  3. Select the old account for your email address — the one set up with your previous provider
  4. Click the remove (−) button below the account list, then confirm to remove it

Note: If the account is used by other apps on your Mac, you'll be asked to remove it in Internet Accounts settings instead. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Internet Accounts in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down), select the account, then turn Mail off.

Adding your email account to the Mail app

  1. Log in at the top of this page to ensure these instructions are accurate for your account
  2. If upgrading from our legacy email hosting, remove your old account first. See the Show the steps to remove your old account section above
  3. Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older versions)
  4. Click Internet Accounts
  5. In the list of accounts you can configure, select Add Other Account…
  6. Click Mail Account

  7. In the window that opens, enter the following information:

    Name
    Enter the name you'd like your email recipients to see
    Email Address
    Enter your email address
    Password
    Enter your mailbox password

  8. After completing the fields, click Sign In and fill in the remaining fields for the mail server:

    Account type
    IMAP
    Incoming mail server
    imap.cloudisp.net
    Outgoing mail server
    smtp.cloudisp.net
    User Name (if shown)
    Enter your email address

  9. Click Sign In again to confirm the details entered and make sure that Mail & Notes are selected in the next window. Finally, click Done.

  10. When you open the Mail app, it will start downloading messages for the configured account.
