Microsoft Outlook (Office Edition)
Synchronise your Pureweb mailbox with Microsoft Outlook.
In this guide, you will configure the classic Microsoft Outlook desktop app, included with the Microsoft Office/365 suite, to synchronise with webmail using the IMAP protocol. Changes made on one device will be reflected across all of your configured devices.
Important information
Microsoft have released a free edition of Outlook that is bundled with Windows. The instructions below do not apply to this version, as it is a different app from the one bundled with Microsoft Office. If you have both installed, they are typically differentiated in your Start menu by Outlook or Outlook (new) for the free edition and Outlook (classic) for the recommended Office version.
We do not recommend using the free edition with your mailbox. It has a more limited feature set than classic Outlook and uses Microsoft’s cloud-sync system, where your mailbox is synchronised to Microsoft’s cloud before appearing in the Outlook app. This creates privacy concerns, compatibility issues, and confusing behaviour for users. For users who prefer a direct and private connection to their mailbox, we recommend other free alternatives such as webmail or Thunderbird.
If you have recently been upgraded to our new email hosting, or if your mailbox has moved to us from another provider, please ensure you have removed the old account from your device before following these steps, as Outlook does not support multiple IMAP accounts for the same email address.
